![]() System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/amework/OverrideBundle. The one thing that I think would make a great addition, though, and would keep me from vacillating between XtraFinder and TotalFinder, is a Create new file contextual menu item. I would reconsider implementing it if there was a sane way how to circumvent SIP in Finder injection case. TotalFinder is probably the best thing I’ve found for making the Finder actually usable, which is no mean feat. Installing XtraFinder and TotalFinder XtraFinder and TotalFinder are both plugins that are built on top of Finder. Another neat feature of XtraFinder is that it enables you to drag and drop files from the web. They have a nearly identical installation procedure. Even if this is still the case under Big Sur, it seems with Signed System Volume filesystem-level modification of anything under /System will be a royal pain in the ass… XtraFinder and TotalFinder still operates using Catalina(disable SIP) - the former is a free program(wih a trial period which seems to run forever) while the latter is Shareware and according to TotalFinder's forums there's seemingly a way that Big Sur might also get a taste of TotalFinder. Well the latest Office 2019 (Nov 10) was released prior to Big Sur (Nov 12). Maybe Apple had a reason to not check for the signatures, so they could not easily fix it. If I remember correctly, XtraFinder relies on the fact that FileProvider framework loads extra “plugins” from this location without checking for apple/platform signatures. Library Validation: the Finder binary is newly marked as a platform binary, so system prevents loading/injecting any non-platform code into it even with SIP fully disabled, see how to disable it here: macOS Big Sur and TotalFinder.Fixed: Legacy label color - Fill entire row in List View. XtraFinder 1.5 Released on New: Support Shift-Select in Icons View. No improvement for earlier OS X versions. Looking for an older version SIP must remain weakened while using TotalFinder. Has a lot of built-in integrations, like with iterm2 to display images, and can be extended with plugins, to get devicons, or fuzzy-file finding vim-like shortcuts, and has integrations in vim and Neovim. Released on Updated for OS X 10.15 Catalina. I wonder if XtraFinder will be able to pull this off again under macOS 11 (Big Sur).ĪFAICT there are two new security hardenings in Big Sur related to our case: for Mac users who demand more from their Finder. ![]()
